Borgo Paradiso

Borgo Paradiso is a small and ancient village located in Lake Maggiore between the Canton of Ticino (SW) and Province of Varese (IT).
The project intends to enhance the territory, both in terms of social and urban recovery of (Borgo di Veddo) and from the point of view of the city repopulation which has seen in recent years a lack of residents and young people, towards the hospitality sector especially aged people projected into future according to the most innovative aspects of the digital and technological turning point currently in course to become a “Short Accommodation Open Village”.

The project initiative intends to enhance the territory, both in terms of the social and urban recovery of Borgo di Veddo as an element of a much broader lake and pre-Alpine context, and from the point of view of the city repopulation which has seen in recent years a depopulation of residents and young people. The intention is also the promotion and economic development towards hospitality sector aimed at a national and foreign market area which, especially in recent years, has shown significant interest in the northern area of Lake Maggiore in or view of cross border sustainable tourism cooperation with Canton Ticino (Switzerland) too.
The project intends to promote conscious tourism of the territory, respectful of its tradition, environment and local culture but decidedly projected into the future and organized according to the most innovative aspects of the digital and technological turning point currently in course as well as energy efficiency using energy renewable sources according to SDGs green deal criteria.

The guiding idea of the initiative is to restore the real estate of Borgo di Veddo in order to become a short accommodation “Open Village”, Its ancient vital urban and settlement function as a moment of living and vital connection between the lake reality of the shore of Lake Maggiore on which Maccagno stands and the pastoral sylvan of the pre-Alpine environment given by the Upper Veddasca Valley and the historic border with the neighborhood Swiss Confederation will encounter the Council of the Europe Proposal dated 6/12/23 n. 16402-23 concerning the regulation on “short term accommodation services” n.
